This week it has been done. the first plenary session of the new legislature<\/strong>, It was about approving the salaries of the mayor and councillors, appointing representatives from the various parties, and setting up the Accounts Commission\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you well know, a council meeting is a public event, although people are not in the habit of attending. That is why we have requested (still without a response) that they be recorded, as is already done in many towns, so that everyone can know what is said and approved at those sessions. In the meantime, we can give you a brief summary of the aspects we consider most relevant: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the subs<\/strong>, the Mayor has been forced to reduce his salary because the population of Ll\u00edber is now below 1,000 inhabitants and the regulations set limits to prevent excessive salaries in such small municipalities. However, it turns out that the rest of the councillors are paid the same as he was and, what's more, they all now get paid. So instead of reducing the budget for salaries, which is logically what the regulation intends, they are increasing it by more than \u20ac3,000 per year. .<\/strong> Compare: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But to compensate for what they have done, they have cut the attendance allowance for those who do not have a part-time salary, that is, the opposition councillors: whereas they previously received \u20ac115, they will now receive \u20ac90. Are they doing it to save money? I don't think so. Anyway, as you might expect, we questioned it, asked for explanations that didn't convince us, and ultimately voted against it, although since they have the majority, it was approved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were also surprised by the information about the Appointment of representatives from the different zones<\/strong>(From Collado and Cuta, de la Coma, Mequinesa and Morteret, De la Font d'Aixa, de Marn\u00e9s (which, incidentally, does away with the concept of a pedan\u00eda mayor)\u2026 The idea of each area having a representative seems fine to us, as it could improve communication and resource management. What we find appalling is the way it has been done: those people have been appointed by decree without prior consultation with the residents. A rather undemocratic approach, in our view, and that is why we voted against it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another controversial measure has been the issue of the Creation of the Accounts Commission <\/strong>which, according to the text, was to be done at the plenary session and based on proportionality criteria. Their interpretation was as follows: five from the PP and one from AVANT. We wanted them to explain that view of proportionality. The only thing they said was that the law states there must be at least one representative from each party. In the end, we agreed that the Mayor will look into it and at the next plenary meeting will tell us something. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the other proposals, such as the allocation of departments or other responsibilities, we raised no objections. We already knew they weren't going to offer us anything, and there were no surprises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
