At this plenary, as we usually do, we request further information on almost all sections and question what we deem appropriate. Here we highlight some of the most relevant aspects:
– As for the state of the council's finances, the information they send us on the “Quarterly Execution” is partially encrypted and we can barely understand it. Even so, we note that there are outstanding payments totalling €438,962 and a financing requirement of €125,693.90. We ask and are told that everything is under control and that ’it's normal.“.
We also take the opportunity to ask about the rumour of delays in paying the rubbish collection fees; they admit it's true (without explaining why) and that it's already being resolved.
Regarding the Christmas shopping vouchers intended to stimulate trade, after reviewing how they have been used, we propose studying a new system that would be fairer, as we have observed that some families have made very high use of them while others have used them comparatively very sparingly.
After seeing that the town council pays €400 a month in rent to the abbey, we propose negotiating the contract so as to invest in improving the building in exchange for these payments. They tell us they're happy with the idea and will try to discuss it with the relevant officials.
Regarding the proposal to build toilets in the car park, we express our agreement and suggest that they also take the opportunity to provide showers and a washing-up area that could be used by people attending fairs, caravans, etc. We are told that the problem is that the land is not owned by the council but is leased.
– As for the increase in the refuse and water charges, we oppose it. We find it striking that, in the case of water, the higher rate is already being applied to the future homes of the Medina PAI. We see no point in this reference, given that they do not exist at present. It is not clear to us (does it mean that it is already a given they will use Parcent's water rather than the water they claim to have?).
Finally, we are informed that the appeal against the building permits for the MEDINA PAI has been dismissed, and we warn that we will go to court, to which we are told that we are within our rights.
Requests and Questions
In this section we pose a series of questions and requests which we hope will be answered promptly.
We request information on the current status of the Marnes wall and other works on plots 27, 28 and 29 of Polygon 10.
We ask whether there are any specific fire prevention measures for the village's small hill, and what actions are planned for abandoned properties that could prove particularly dangerous.
We ask when the General Urban Planning Scheme is scheduled to be drawn up.
Is there any plan to buy land to build social housing for the young people of the village?
Is there a project to extend the Gata-Xaló road?
Has any possibility been considered of reopening the library, even if only on a part-time basis?
What training courses are planned for adults, apart from Spanish for foreigners?
Has the Department of Education and Culture planned any tribute for the centenary of the birth of the Valencian poet Vicent Andrés Estellés?
We request a return to a more suitable timetable for the plenaries so that people can participate if they so wish.
We ask, once again, that the plenaries be recorded and made available to be followed from home, as is already the case in many places.
